Jing Assignment –Using Jing to Teach a Software Feature : Teaching Scratch

Aim:
Practice using Jing by creating a presentation teaching how to use Scratch. You have to demonstrate a feature of Scratch, ie how to use loops, how to change backgrounds, how to create a script block, how to create a script to move a sprite.

Situation:
Now that you have completed the Scratch project, you have been asked to share your Scratch knowledge with other students. You are to make a presentation that teaches your fellow students how to use a feature in Scratch. The presentation must consist of an image capture, a video capture and voice narration.

Each task below describes the minimum requirements needed to achieve. You can gain a higher grade by doing work beyond this minimum.

Task One – Image Capture
Use Jing to capture an image related to your presentation. Capture an image of part of Scratch and annotate the image. You may want to capture a script block, the image editor, the block palette or some other part of Scratch.

  • You must capture at least one image.
  • You must use drawing tools in Jing to describe parts of the image.

Task Two – Video Capture
Use Jing to capture video displaying information related to the topic. Demonstrate how to use one of the features of Scratch.

  • The video must be at least one minute long.
  • Must have audio, use the cursor to point out specific parts of what is being presented.

Task Three – Publishing
Create a wikispace page for your Jing image and video. Write a brief introduction to Jing and describe the feature you will presenting. Add the image and embed video to the webpage.

  • The page must have a description of the feature you are showing.
  • The page must have the image captured and annotated in Jing.
  • Video must be uploaded to Screencast or Voicethread.
  • Video must be embedded in web page.
